Our Take:

This Studio Goose Hybrid OM from Boucher is a favorite here at Burgo's. Boucher doesn't skimp when it comes to the quality of their Adirondack Spruce tops, and this SG-21-G is no exception. The torrefaction process imbues a lovely toasted golden color to the soundboard, which contrasts beautifully with the pinkish-red color of the bubinga used for the back and sides. As a tonewood, Bubinga lives near the rosewood end of the spectrum, with just a touch of mahogany's fundamental punchiness. It yields a wonderfully balanced tone, with loads of power and responsiveness. The torrefied top offers a vintage-tinged tone right away, and this guitar is super dynamic and fun in terms of overtone production - available in spades when you want them, and they can be stowed away when playing a more direct style. This is one of the reasons we love this guitar for pretty much any style of playing. It's super light and comfortable, and as always with Boucher, every detail is perfection.

This SG-21 Build Features Boucher's Gold Pack:

Maturity is a great quality, particularly when it comes to acoustic guitars. In 2010, Boucher Guitars innovated by developing with the collaboration of The University Laval of Quebec, a unique roasting process that accelerates the aging of its Adirondack red spruce soundboards by eliminating lignin, but without altering its essential components of the wood, cellulose and hemicellulose. This industry first resulted in the launch of our famous Gold Touch™ top option at NAMM 2011. Optional on our guitars from the Studio Goose and Bluegrass Goose Series, the GOLD PACK™ also includes gold plated machine head tuners.
