ABOUT Larrivée GUITARS
A mechanic by trade with an interest in classical guitar making, Jean Larrivée was immersed into the craft of lutherie after attending a concert of guitarist Edgar Munch Jr. in the 1960's. After the show, Jean had a fortuitous and life-changing meeting with Edgar's father, renowned German luthier Edgar Munch Sr. Impressed with Jean's keen interest in classical guitar making, Munch agreed to take Jean on as an apprentice. After completing his apprenticeship, Jean established Larrivée Guitars in 1967 in Toronto, Canada.
Larrivée Guitars continued to grow through the years, with a mission to build high-end guitars for everyday musicians, eventually relocating to Oxnard, CA in 2001, hot on the heels of developing the first made-in North America acoustic guitar under $800 - the D-03. Originally a limited edition guitar, the D-03 rapidly became the workhorse for Larrivée Guitars, and Larrivée quickly broadened the 03 offering into multiple body shapes and sizes.

Today, Larrivée Guitars continues their mission of building breathtakingly high quality guitars at affordable prices for everyday players, with the 03 series steadfastly embodying this mission, along with a full lineup of new world-renowned models employing innovative techniques in design, production, and material selection.

All Larrivée guitars are built with only the finest solid woods available - no plys, laminates (layered), or synthetic woods are ever used in construction. Larrivée uses FSC wood and engages in as much selective logging as possible.
Utilizing a unique X-bracing system developed by Jean Larrivée in the 1970's, Larrivée guitars feature a contemporary tone that delivers crystal highs, soothing mids, and punchy bass.
