Huss & Dalton TOM-M - Vintage Sitka & Old Growth Mahogany

Our Take:

This build pairs amazing, custom-ordered old growth Honduran mahogany for the back and sides, and a custom vintage Sitka spruce top with uncommonly tight grain and stunning medullary rays. Visually and sonically, this TOM-M drips with sophistication. We are huge fans of mahogany guitars here a Burgo's, and the quality of mahogany used for this build is exceptional. The tone is sweet, woody, and punchy, and overtones are easily coaxed and manipulated without throwing a mutiny (if you know, you know). This guitar wants to be your lifelong friend. Custom flamed maple appointments and mahogany headstock overlay add some sizzle while keeping things classy. The traditional models are the culmination of our deep respect and appreciation of the pre-war flat tops that are among the most revered instruments in existence. We combine the age-old techniques of construction with our own take on the classic design to produce an instrument of unparalled power and exquisite tone and playability. These instruments feature 25’ radius bracing mated with a traditionally flat top.

Imagine a guitar with a warm tone that still manages to clearly show you the start and stop of every note, and then you’ll get some idea of what the TOM-M sounds like. This OM features the same flat-top construction style as our TOM-R but combines mahogany with a Sitka spruce top. Rather than the immediate flash of the TOM-R, the TOM-M shines subtly with traditional mahogany guitar appointments like tortoise-style body bindings and simple dot fretboard inlays. Understatement is the name of the game here—that is, until you pick the first note.
